Ms. Mary Evelyn McRae

        Ms. Mary E. McArthur McRae entered God’s Heavenly Kingdom, on February 4, 2017. She was born on October 26, 1917 in Winston Salem, NC; to the late Henry and Julia George McArthur. She graduated high school in Winston Salem, NC; She later married Mr. J.D. McRae and they moved to Proctorville, NC; Mary was a homemaker, who loved her family, and loved cooking for them. She was a member of Antioch Church, where she loved to worship and praise the Lord. She loved her family and cooking good meals. She always had a piano or organ in her home. She also loved to work and visit her family in New York at times for weddings, church and different occasions.

     Mary was preceded in death by her husband J.D. McRae, three children, Cardell McRae, Julia McRae, and Richard McRae, two grandchildren, Perry Thompson, and Lisa Thompson Fenner, two sisters, Rosetta Johnson, and Laurel McArthur, two brothers, Willie McArthur, and Haywood McArthur, one daughter-in-law, Patricia Taylor McRae, and one son-in-law, John Douglas Thompson.

     She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Lula Thompson (Minister of Music) of Lumberton, NC; three grandchildren, William Arnold McRae of the home,        Michael Thompson (Sharon), of Burlington, NJ; and Lee Sterling McRae of Queens, NY; seven great-grandchildren, Tanesha Thompson, Tyesha Hutton (Eddie), Ashley Thompson, Chelsea Thompson of all of New Jersey, Marissa Jenkins, William Alford and  Marcus Alford all of North Carolina, two great-great-grandchildren, TreVonne Black, and Aliyah Andrews, one special sister-in-law, Geneva McRae, a special cousin, Rev. Magnolia Cobb and niece Lucille Watson, and a host of other relatives and other friends.
