Thomas Howard Smith Jr.

     Thomas "Smitty" Howard Smith Jr., 71 of Lumberton passed away on Wednesday October 9, 2019. He was born January 20, 1948 in Lumberton, NC to the late Howard and Rosie Williams-Smith. Thomas spent his earlier years as a brick mason and he also had a charter bus company “Big T Tours” in Brooklyn, NY.

     Thomas spent his life in the bus business for over 33 years. In 1992, he moved back to North Carolina and resided in Fayetteville where he and his wife built their lovely home together. He was a member of China Grove Missionary Baptist Church.Thomas loved to play the piano where him and younger daughter had a gospel group together. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend.

    He was preceded in death by two brothers, Horace Smith and William Henry. He is left to cherish his memory his wife, Bessie Smith, two daughters, Fontella Hill and Paris Peterson (Brian), seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, two sisters, Carolyn Smith (Lonnie) and Cathy Boroughs (David) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
