Ms. Peggy Townsend

     Ms. Peggy Townsend, daughter of the late James and Leola Pittman Townsend was born on January 4, 1950 in Lumberton, NC. She departed this life on August 22, 2023 at River Edge of Lumberton 550 Bailey Road Lumberton, NC 28358.

     Peggy was the eleventh child of thirteen children. She graduated from Orrum High School. She was a loving, giving and caring sister.

     She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church. She was a faithful member until her health declined. Her favorite song to sing, was “ Be Done, let the will of the Lord be done.”

    Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Leola Townsend, one daughter, Ms.       Erica Townsend, five brothers, and five sisters.

     She leaves to cherish her loving memories to three sisters, Shirley Jacobs (Tommy), Kay Gore, Claudia Page (James) all of Lumberton, NC; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Townsend of Orrum, NC; two brother-in-laws, Bobby Robinson of Los Angeles, California, and Charles Hammonds of Fairmont, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
