It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Patricia Hammonds, who departed this world peacefully on the morning of Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the age of 72. Patricia was a beloved matriarch, cherished mother, devoted sister, and a source of unending love and strength to all who knew her.
Born to the late Nellie and Philip Santee, Patricia was a guiding light within her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her dear siblings, Bessie Faulkner, Leroy Santee, Gertrude Faulkner, and Caleb Hall. Their memories live on in the stories and love she shared throughout her life. Patricia’s legacy of love and resilience continues through her surviving sisters, Carol Faulkner (Oscar) and Carolyn Faulkner (Alfred), who shared a lifetime of memories and support with her.
She is survived by her children, Lee Hammonds Jr. (Tyic), Howard Hammonds (Felicia), Patricia McQueary (Greg), Kelvin Shaw, and Melissa MacDonald—were the center of her world. She poured her heart into raising them with unwavering devotion, instilling in them the values of faith and family. Her pride and joy were her 23 grandchildren, including Alexis, Christian, Brittany, and Destiny, each of whom held a special place in her heart. As a great-grandmother to 17 great-grandchildren, including Kashton, Patricia found immense joy in watching her family grow and flourish. She cherished every moment with them, creating countless memories filled with laughter, love, and wisdom.
Patricia’s life was defined by her unwavering commitment to her family and her ability to nurture meaningful connections. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, all of whom were touched by her kindness, generosity, and steadfast love.
Her legacy is one of resilience, compassion, and an unbreakable bond with those she held dear. While our hearts ache in her absence, we take solace in the knowledge that Patricia’s love will continue to guide and inspire us. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Services to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held as follows viewing Saturday November 23rd between 4 PM and 6 PM, Funeral will be Sunday at 2 PM both will be held at Worley Monterey Services 219 E. 3Rd St Lumberton NC 28358. The family invites all who knew her to join in remembering her remarkable life and the indelible mark she left on the world.
