Ms. Odessa Baldwin Powell, was born February 1, 1941, to Hattie Mae Bethea and Len Morman. She was later adopted by Frank and Eliza Baldwin of Hallsboro, NC. She departed this earthly life August 20, 2025, to go to her eternal home.
Odessa graduated from Artesia High School in Hallsboro, NC. She continued her education and worked as a certified nursing assistant in Raleigh, NC. She relocated to Lumberton, NC where she was a full-time caretaker, mother, and grandmother for her family, that she loved deeply. Odessa never met a stranger, loved people, and would help anyone that she could. She was a great mother and woman. Anyone that knew her knows the patience, grace and love that she gave to everyone. She will be deeply missed.
Odessa was preceded in death by her birth parents Hattie Mae Bethea and Len Morman, her parents Frank and Eliza Baldwin, her husband John Roberts, sons Michael Powell and Eric Powell, and a daughter Linda Powell, two brothers David and Len Morman, and a niece Angela Durant.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories to four daughters, Lisa Powell of Lumberton, NC; Chrystal Powell of Fayetteville, NC; Karra Powell of Lumberton, NC; and Shonte Powell Campbell (Sedrick) of Red Springs, NC; three sons, Sarrell Powell of Raleigh, NC; James and Marcus Powell (Christina) both of Lumberton, NC; A granddaughter she raised as her own Shacoyia Powell of Lumberton, NC; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were all special to her and was always a helping hand in raising them, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss her dearly.
