Marlene Campbell Powell born May 7, 1934 in Marietta, NC to the late William Campbell Sr. and Dillie Arnette Campbell answered her heavenly call on February 25, 2024.
Marlene was a devoted mother who was loved by many. She was a faithful member of Mill Branch Baptist Church where she was a deaconess, and was part of the Unity Choir for many years. She was also a member of the Fairmont Community Chorus. Marlene was a hard worker where she was employed at Munsingwear for over 30 years, where she retired. She also worked at the exploration Station in Lumberton, As well as secretary for the Town of Fairmont. Marlene graduated from Orrum High School in Orrum, NC, were she excelled in basketball. She then moved to New York where she was pursuing a degree in the medical field. She later returned to North Carolina where she received her associate Degree at Robeson Community College then to Pembroke University for a Associate Degree in General Education.
Marlene was preceded in death by two sisters, Essie C. Baker and Ruth, one brother, William Campbell Jr., two grandsons, Marlon Wade and Randy Morgan, one great–grandson, Jalen Stephens and a brother-in-law, Fennel Baker.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Wanda Campbell, Quincy Powell and Belinda P. Wade (Jasper) all of Fairmont, NC, Willie Powell (Leisa) of Columbia, SC, Sandra P. Carr (Donald) of Fayetteville, NC, Rodric McCallum (She raised as a son) of Lumberton, NC, her grandchildren, Kametchia Campbell (she raised as a daughter), Stephanie Stephens (Sam), Regina Livingston (Rell), Jaquez Fields, Terrance Faison, Courtney Fletcher, Rhasheid Powell, Kendric Powell, Marcus Powell, great and great-great grandchildren, Rodriguea Parker, Jalissa Campbell, Zaquan Campbell, Alliyah Davis, Tiyana Stephens, Jymere Stephens, Jemeya Stephens, Kaniyah Powell, Kamerion Powell, Khyviere Livingston, Zion/Zamarie Powell, Jordan Parker, Avry Campbell, Dejon Parker, Emori Britton and Jace Henry, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
