Ms. Mamie Jean Robinson

Ms. Mamie J. Robinson humbly graced this earth November 12, 1923 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late Mr. Sam and Lula Andrews Robinson. She completely surrendered to God’s will and left her earthly body on June 3, 2018.

     Mamie was a loving and caring person. She was known affectionately by many in the community and surrounding areas of Lumberton as “Aunt Mamie” and she will truly be missed. Aunt Mamie enjoyed family and fellowship; she was a phenomenal cook and baker. Anyone that had eaten from the hands of Aunt Mamie was blessed to be fed not just physically, but spiritually as well. Aunt Mamie instilled wisdom, tough love and valuable life lessons to those who were around her.

     Mamie graduated from Red Stone Academy, then later furthered her education at Fayetteville State Teachers College. She entered the workforce at an early age and was employed by Southeastern Regional Medical Center for 42 years. As a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Lumberton, Mamie loved the Lord and enjoyed serving in the church.

Mamie was preceded in death by her brothers; Sam, Richard, and Hubert Robinson. Her sisters; Margaret McLean, Amanda Stevens and her beloved nephew James (Big Jim) McLean.

     Mamie committed to rearing her sister’s children as her own after her untimely death and is survived by; Myra Miller of Myrtle Beach S.C., Verondia Tyndall (Eulysee) of Lumberton N.C., Eric and Heath Stevens of Lumberton N.C. Contraze Miller, Nikki Miller, Tamika Daniels, Tiffany Spencer (David), Tamika McLean (Victor), and Jayla Stevens.      

     Mamie is also survived by Harold Robinson (Annie) of Red Springs N.C., Freddie McLean (Truddie), Sam McLean,     Sammy P. Robinson, Sarah McLean, Derevana Leach (Mortimer), James Robinson (Felix), Dilthra Robinson, Waynetta Robinson, Matilda Whitfield, Fredrick Johnson, Anissa Johnson, Janet Johnson, Aubrey Johnson, and a host of great, great nieces and nephews and her close friends: Sally Harvey, Lisa Troy, Hazel Hall and Claudette McCallum.
