Mrs. Loisteen Campbell Winningham was born to the late Sylvester (Faye) and Ida Ruth Byrd Campbell in Robeson County on June 13, 1940. She went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville NC.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Covell Winningham, brothers, James Sylvester and Berlester Campbell, and sister Shirley Byrd Wilson.
Loisteen is a graduate of Proctorville High School and Robeson Community College. She worked at Texture Fiber, Alamac Knits as well as Walmart on Fayetteville Road in Lumberton NC.
She grew up in a Christian home. She joined First Baptist Fairmont at an early age. She attended Antioch Baptist Church and later joined First Orrum Missionary Baptist Church upon her and Covell returning back home from New York.
Her Favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6 and her favorite sayings were “You have not because you ask not” and “Whatever the Lord Says”. She will be missed by her family and friends.
She served as the Missionary president at First Orrum. She also held the presidency of the Woman’s Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Union of Robeson County. She sung and was president of the Senior Choir. She was a trustee, Sunday School teacher, Young Adult Advisor and a dedicated and faithful worker for her church until the time of her death.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons Carey Dion (Geraldine) of Greensboro, NC and Terence of Raleigh, NC; two daughters Sherry Boney of Orrum, NC, and Barbara (Titus) Williams of Lumberton, NC; grandchildren Terrell Mason of Lumberton, NC, Termaine Mason and Twannia Mason of Fayetteville, NC, Crystal Hansley (Jerrell) of Wilmington, NC, Jahmal (Denise) Campbell and Michael (Tie’Nisha) Campbell of Greensboro, NC; great-grand children, Malikaih, Makailah (Lovey), Makaih, Jayce, Kailey, Kenon, Robert and Tehya, two sisters Earnestine Campbell Hill of Albany GA, and Debra Byrd Jackson of Pembroke NC; one brother Ralph Byrd of San Antonio, TX; Three sister-n-laws, Pauline Campbell of Fairmont, NC, Vermell Barrett of Orrum, NC, Gwen Campbell of Allen TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
