Ms. Lena Katherine McMillan, daughter of the late Mr. John McMillan and the late Maggie McKellar McMillan was born in Fairmont, NC on October 1, 1934. She reached out to God and He wrapped her in his loving arms as He transported her to heaven on Mothers Day, Sunday May 12, 2024.
Lena received her early education in the public schools of Robeson County and graduated from Rosenwald High School in Fairmont, North Carolina. Lena was a devoted and loving Sister, Aunt and friend to many.
Lena furthered her education at Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina. After graduating from Bennett in Early Childhood Education, Lena accepted a teaching position in Mound Bayou Mississippi. After about six years teaching in Mississippi, Lena returned home and taught in the Robeson County School System at Southside Ashpole Rowland, North Carolina where she remained until she retired.
Lena enjoyed traveling. She visited many places with friends, family and her sorority just to name a few. At her church she was a member of the Pastor Aide, Missionary and Mass Choir.
Lena was preceded in death by nine siblings, Annie Neal, Leila, John, James, Luke, Samuel, Christine, Marie, Child of John & Maggie died at birth, and Jeremiah.
Lena leaves a legacy to many nieces, nephews, great nephews and great great nephews and nieces.
