Ms. Jenny Damon

     On Friday, May 18, 2018, Our Almighty God picked a beautiful rose from the garden of life; our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Niece, and Friend, Mrs. Jenny Lee Damon. Jenny, or “Lee” as she was affectionately called was born to Jeanie Nancy Knight and Ernest Simmons on April 27, 1949 in Harrells, North Carolina. She graduated from Clear Run High School in Garland, North Carolina in 1967. Upon graduating from high school, she moved to Philadelphia, PA where she worked at Lankenau Medical Center for many years.  She married the love of her life, Mr. Floyd Damon Jr., on December 18, 1976. To this union they had two children, Jenae Elish and Shavon Lee Damon.

     They made their home in Philadelphia for thirty-five plus years, where Jenny attended and graduated from Wilfred Beauty Academy. However, with a passion for helping others, she dedicated her life to assisting special needs students at Blaine Elementary School in West Philadelphia, until her retirement in 2002.  In 2003, Jenny and Floyd, made the decision to make Orrum, NC their retirement home.

     Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Damon Jr., her daughter, Jenae Damon; her parents, Jeanie Nancy Knight and Ernest Simons and her beloved maternal grandparents, Mrs. Emma Lewis Kerr and Mr. Jim Kerr.

     She leaves to cherish her legacy, love, and memories; her daughter, Shavon Lee Damon of Philadelphia; two granddaughters, Ny’Asia Gardiner and Nyla Damon of Philadelphia; three brothers, Henry Knight of Philadelphia, Mike Mitchell of Teaneck, New Jersey and Andre Simmons of Charlotte, NC; two nephews, reared by Jenny and Floyd, Jermaine Knight and Justin Knight of Philadelphia; and a niece, Janyiah Knight of Philadelphia.  She also leaves two aunts, Susan Alberta Johnson of Raleigh, NC, Margaret Kerr of Williamsport, PA, and two uncles, James Kerr of Blackburg, SC and Charles Kerr of Hagertown, Md.

     Jenny was a beautiful soul inside and out, willing to help anyone in time of need. She was the epitome of grace, and goodness. Jenny will always be loved and missed by all dearly...
