Ms. Janet Elangeline Powers

Ms. Janet Powers, 69, of Lumberton passed away July 31, 2020 at Southeastern Hospice House.

Janet Oliver Powers was born May 13th , 1951 in Fairmont, North Carolina to her late mother Laura Bell Oliver and father Linwood Oliver.

She was proceeded in death by her sister Princilla Oliver, her daughter Janann Powers and grandson Tony Bernard Stephens. Janet departed this life Friday July 31st, 2020 at southeast hospice, Lumberton NC. Janet loved the Lord and attended St. John Baptist Church in Fairmont and attended Rosenwald school in Fairmont. Her passion was making people happy, she loved to fish, see, cook, solve puzzle, play spades, she was always full of Joy and was a great mother. Janet was well known in the town of fairmont. She always spoke her mind and would set you straight; and was known as a True Ledgend. Janet's precious memories are left to her three daughters: Michelle Oliver, Mary Oliver Bostick (Joe L Bostick), Deborah Powers all residing in Lumberton, and her special companion Michael McCollum. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 9 Great Grands and 5 great great Grands. She also leaves behind her beautiful sisters who she loved; Lenora Cleveland (Alvin Cleveland) from Alaska, Alice Katie from New York, Faith Worley from Fairmont NC, Laura Giordano from Lumberton NC , Rose Smith ( Jimmy Smith ) from Boardman NC. She also leave 2 brothers Linwood Oliver from Fairmont and Bernard Preston Oliver ( Iris Oliver) from Florence SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
