Ms. Hayland Lavalle Dockery

     Hayland LaValle Dockery "Pig" was born on July 30, 1952 in Lumberton NC to the late Mary L. Dockery and John Smith. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and over all great friend. She was preceded in death by her brothers Randy Dockery, Micheal Dockery, John T. Smith, Irvin "Ivy Joe" Dockery and a grandson Marquese Antonio Nicholson "Quese". She departed her earthly life on Tuesday February 20, 2024 in the comfort of her home.

    Hayland was educated by the public schools of Robeson County and Robeson Community College. She was a dedicated and hard worker who after 20 years retired from Glen Flora Nursing Home of Lumberton NC. Hayland was known for being a nurture, kind spirit, family oriented and a joy to anyone she came in contact with. She love attending church, listening to gospel music, watching action films and most of all family gatherings. Hayland was a proud member of McCormick Chapel AME Church of Lumberton NC where she served on the usher board, choir and kitchen aide.

    Hayland leaves to cherish her memories three children Craig Dockery (Lakisha), Byron Dockery and Felicia P. Dockery-Hammonds (Howard). Ten grandchildren Shaquel Nicholson, Hyderia Richardson, Tyrionna Dockery, Amya Dockery, Mozay Dockery, Kemiyah Dockery, Byron Dockery Jr., Myron Dockery, DeKwon Billings and Malik Dockery. Seventeen great-grandchildren. Three sisters Lynette Moody, Michelle Horton and Yvonne Robeson (Sim). Five brothers LeVerne Moody, John Horton III, Carzelle Horton (Geraldine), Robert Horton and Howard Brigman. A Godson Gilbert Huggins. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that she loved dearly. Hayland four close beloved friends Mildred McLaurin, Doris Johnson, Edward McNeil and Rim Robeson.
