Ms. Gloria Chavis-Perkins

Gloria Chavis-Perkins, 80, of New Haven, Connecticut, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023.  She was born in Fairmont, North Carolina on February 22, 1943 to the late James Henry and Clara Floyd Chavis.  She was married to the late Harry Perkins, who passed away on August 18, 2023.

Gloria loved to cook, especially for her family.  She enjoyed taking care of her plants and spending time with her friends.  She loves shopping, and if she had the time, would spend all day in the stores.  Whenever possible, she took every advantage of spending time with her grandchildren.  Gloria enjoyed travelling and she always made sure to make it back home to North Carolina.  The ladies Husky’s were her favorite team and she never missed a game.  

Gloria leaves to cherish her memory, grandchildren, Jamell Buskey, Eugene Chavis, Jr., and Rhashika Traynham; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice and Vedell and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was predeceased by loving sons, Michael Chavis and Eugene Chavis, Sr.; sister, Penny Thorpe; and brother, Bobby Chavis.
