On January 21, 2022, Geneva heard the voice from above and willingly answered the call. She was born on January 18, 1926, to the Late Melvin McPhaul and the Late Ida Mae Godwin McPhaul. She was fondly called mom, mama, granny, Edie, Big Momma, Ginny, Aunt Geneva, and Mrs. Geneva by so many who knew her. She sought spiritual guidance at an early age and confessed Christ during her formative years. After marriage she united with the Antioch Baptist Church, Proctorville, NC (63 years) where she remained a faithful member until her call from the Master. She loved her church family and showed it by her dedication as a member of the Sunday School, an usher, member of the Missionary Circle, and member of the kitchen committee.
She received her early education at Snow Hill School and Peterson High School, Red Springs, North Carolina where she enjoyed playing basketball.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony for (43) years, until his death to the Late James Proctor McRae. This union was blessed with ten children, two children, Deloris and Paul McRae which preceded her in death. She enjoyed hugging her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-greatgrandchildren, gardening, working in her flowers, baking pound and chocolate cakes. Her favorite pastime was fishing in the coastal waters of North Carolina and traveling to Massachusetts coastal waters to fish and visiting with her sons and their families.
We know why God took you and that is to release you from your pain. He wanted to keep you warm and keep you away from the rain. We can no longer hear your voice or feel your warm touch, the time has come to let you go, and will miss you very much. She leaves to cherish her memories four sons, Leroy McRae (Late Patricia), Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Proctor Junior McRae, (Annie Ruth), Dorchester, Massachusetts, Winford McRae (Linda) Sanford, North Carlina; and Lamorris McRae (Paulette), Pembroke, North Carolina; four daughters, Barbara M.
