Ms. Ethel Belle Lowery

     Ethel Belle Lowery was born to the late Monican and Annie Thompson on December 12, 1941. She attended school in St. Pauls at an early age. In her later years she worked in the hospitality and tourism industry.

    Belle was a loving woman, who loved to sew, and cook for others. Prior to the pandemic, she took joy in attending church and going to missionary meetings.

    In 1962, Belle was married to the late James Lowery, Sr. and to this union six children were born; Frankie (Duke) Lowery; James (Peanut) Lowery, Jr., Valerie Lowery, Randolph (Randy) Lowery, Sebrina Lowery, and Perry Lowery, Sr., all of Lumberton, North Carolina.

    Belle leaves cherished memories with 13 grandchildren (Arine, Shanna, Perry, Jamie, Jerrico, Jasmine, Balencia, Perry, Jr., Keyashia, Azaria, Tyrone, Shaleah & Mesha); 7 great grandchildren (Tazarie, Aziyah, Azariah, Bruce, Ashton, Elijah and Myraiah); and 1 great, great grandchild (Chozen). She had a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

    Belle has 3 living sisters, Josephine (Tom) Robinson of Lumberton, NC, Faye McMillan of Chapel Hill, NC, and Eva Thompson of Durham, NC. A brother-in- law, Bruce Lowery and a sister-in-law Betty Lowery Rowell. She is preceded in death by 6 sisters, Tomasina (Humphrey) Purvis, Alice (Preston) McNeil, Ellen (Dan) Rhodes, Janie (Joseph) Jones, Mary Eliza Thompson, Annie Ruth (Lydell) McDowell and 8 brothers, Abraham Thompson, Andrew “Buster” (Dollie) Thompson, Monroe Thompson, Moses Thompson, Aaron Thompson, Kizah McMillian, Leroy McMillian and Lonnie McMillian.
