Ms. Essie Mae Shaw, was born on August 29, 1923, the daughter of the late Bessie and Johnnie King in Orangeburg, SC. She departed this life on February 27, 2020 at Southeastern Health in Lumberton, NC.
She was a member of Thompson Chapel Baptist Church until her health declined. She worked as a faithful housekeeper for over 50 years. Essie took joy in cooking and sewing for family and friends.
She was a faithful and loving babysitter for at least four generations of children. She took pride in having all her family around her during the holiday seasons and on her birthday.
Essie was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Shaw, two daughters, Annie Marie Shaw and Rosa Lee Shaw, two sons, James Lee Shaw (Frank) and Wilbert Shaw Jr., five sisters, Bessie Hailey, Luvenia King, Mozelle Leviner, Lucy King and Mae Belle King, two brothers, Johnny King and Ruby King and one son-in-law, Michael Stephens.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, three daughters, Letha Mae Hickman (Edward) Janice Stephens and Earline McLellan (Tommy) all of Lumberton, NC, one sister, Bertha Canady of Charlotte, NC. Essie was blessed with twelve grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren twenty one great great grandchildren, thirteen great great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
