Ms. Emmer Lee McRae, daughter of the late Willie and Flora Jacobs, was bom on April 4, 1935
in Pembroke, North Carolina. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined
Mt Caramel Church where she remained a member for over 20 years until she joined Greater
Higher Grounds Pentecostal Holiness Church under the ministry of Apostle Clifton Campbell.
She remained a faithful member there until she departed this life on July 29,2021 in the home
that she shared with her daughter Mary Spencer and son in law Walter Spencer surrounded by
loved ones.
Ms. Emmer lived a life devoted to her husband Mr. Roscoe McRae whom she married in June of
1954. During their union they were blessed with 8 children. She was preceded in death by Mr.
McRae as well as two sons, Windell McRae and Willie McRae, and one daughter Heaven
McRae.
Ms. Emmer was beloved by all. She was a true dedicated woman of God who never failed to
share the good news of Jesus Christ with anyone that she came in contact with. Her favorite
scripture was John 3:16 (she’d even give you a dollar if you learned it). She made sure that she
sowed the seeds of Jesus Christ in all of her children as well as her grandchildren. She stood on
God’s word and no matter what happened she never strayed from it. Even through sickness and
pain she never complained. Her faith in God remained strong. The testimony that she left behind
is one of truth, love, and hope in Jesus Christ. She is one that can truly say “I have fought a good
fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown
of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me
only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Roscoe McRae (Nellie) of
Lumberton, NC; Lonnie McRae (Mary) of Fairmont, NC; Flora Davis (Timmy) of Fairmont,
NC; Mary Spencer (Walter) of St. Pauls, NC; Anthony McRae (Evelyn) of Hickory, NC; and
Tony McRae of Lumberton, NC; her brother Dallas Jacobs (Hattie); her sisters, Judy Pearson
(Steve); Nancy Hampton (James); Mary Sue Harrison (Robert); and Margaret Gardner; 23
grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, 4 godsons, 2 goddaughters,
and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
