Ms. Elva Mitchell

     Elva Mitchell was born on December 8, 1947, in Robeson County to the late Elvia Mitchell and late Connie Mitchell. She transcended from her earthy home to her heavenly home Monday, January 26, 2026, at Cape fear Valley Hospital.

     Elva loved the Lord, family, and her special sisterhood. She loved raising her grandchildren. She enjoyed helping others. She was a dedicated person at the Refuge where she helped the homeless. She had a passion for helping people that were in need by connecting them to food, clothing, and resources in the Community.

     Elva graduated from South Lumberton high School. She attended Robeson Community College where she received her Certificate in CNA and LPN program. She always reminded her children that she was part of one of the first Nursing programs at Robeson Community College. She attended church at Crossfire Connection under the Apostle Michael Fields; where she served as armed security guard, decorator, and many roles inside and outside the house of the Lord.

      She leaves to cherish her memories of three sons; Derrick T Mitchell of Lumberton, NC; Roderick R. Mitchell of Agusta, Georgia; Demetrius A. Mitchell of Parkton, NC; one special son that grew to love as her own Jimmy Pittman of Lumberton, NC; her one and only daughter Nejlai Mitchell of Lumberton, NC; one brother Warren (Nora) Mitchell of Greensboro, NC; two raised brothers Darrell (Phyllis) Jones of Lumberton, NC; Gale (aka Bim) Jones of California; one raised sister Etta (Rodger) McNeill of Fayetteville, NC; her special Sisterhood Mrs. Bethany Herring, Mrs. Ida Molo, Pastor Gloria Smith, Mrs. Ethel Ward and Eva Thompson; one Great Aunt Mrs. Florentine Mitchell; 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, host of nephews, nieces, and friends.

    Elva was loved by many people that she came across in the community, work, and schools. Elva will truly be missed but her life will continue on through all her loved ones.
