Ms. Clara Ruth Nicholson

Clara “Ruth” Nicholson, age 92, was called home to be with the Lord peacefully on January 18, 2023, with members of her family by her side in Lumberton, North Carolina. She was born on July 3, 1930, to the late Eddie and Nancy Buchanan as the third child of this union in Lumberton, NC. She was employed at Converse for 21 years, retiring on June 30, 1994. She has been a member of Chrysolite A.M.E Zion Church since a child. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Nancy Buchanan, a sister, Marzella B. Smith, two children, Jasper O’Neil Nicholson and Mary Ann Thompson and a grandson, Jermaine Graham. She is survived by four children: Lee A. Buchanan (Glenda) of Lumberton, Linda Washington (William) of St. Pauls, Clara Nicholson Graham and Janice Jean Nicholson of Lumberton; 13-grandchildren, 37-great-grandchildren, and 47- great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Nancy Washington of Lumberton and Rosa Mae McArn of Raleigh and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
