Beverly Edwards Spruill was born April 27, 1961, in Marietta, NC to Martha Edwards, who preceded her in death. She spent her life in Marietta before moving to Chapel Hill, NC in 2005 and then making her home in Durham, NC. She loved God and people. Her most favorite things to do were to enjoy life to its fullest by keeping a positive attitude, laughing, and encouraging and supporting others. Beverly professed Christ at a very early age and began her Christian walk at Turner Station A.M.E. Church, Marietta, NC under the leadership of Rev. Harold D. Sidbury. For many, many years she served faithfully and later transferred her membership to Miracle Temple Family Fellowship Church, Lakeview, SC under the leadership of Bishop Robert Roundtree.
She graduated from Fairmont High School and attended Winston-Salem State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Office Administration. She was employed by the Robeson County Department of Social Services before leaving there to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. She attended the then, Pembroke State University, where she became a certified 6-12 Business Education teacher. Later she also obtained a Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Phoenix (Raleigh Campus). Beverly was a mother, sister, grandmother, auntie, cousin, and friend. She leaves to cherish fond memories, a son, Rhongy Spruill (Ebony) of Marietta; daughter, Ariel Spruill (Darrus) of Cary NC; step-daughter, Kechia Mackey of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Aria Spruill-Evans, Destinee Mackey, and Tony Thorpe; sisters Deborah Grissett of Fairmont, NC; Wanda Edwards of Marietta, NC; brothers, Larry Edwards, Winston-Salem, NC; Burlester Edwards, James Edwards and Robert Edwards (Felicia) all of Marietta, NC; sister-cousin, Jacqueline Johnson, Fayetteville, NC; several nieces and nephews, some of whom she helped raise and nurture during their early years: (Felice, Victoria, Kevin and Deidre).
