Ecclesiastes 3:1-2... "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die...."
Bessie Mae Moody Hardy began the fulfillment of this biblical reference on October 24, 1951. Having completed her life mission, God's good and faithful servant was called home on July 10, 2020. She was the eldest child of the late Edgar Moody and Clarice McKoy. Bessie was raised by the late Ernest and Mattie McKoy.
Ecclesiastes 3:2" ... a time to plant..."
A proud graduate of Cardozo High School in Washington, D.C., Bessie continued her education at Southeastern Community College, Whiteville, N.C. graduating with a degree in cosmetology. In addition to her studies as a cosmetologist, Bessie rendered compassionate care as a home health worker as an employee of Carolina Home Care and Community Innovations.
Bessie was a faithful member of Minter's Chapel - Boardman, N.C. serving as President of the Usher Board, Sisters of Strength and various church committees/organizations. Her family remembers her as a true worshipper of Christ and was reassured of His faithfulness and love for her through the words of one of her favorites songs, "He Knows My Name."
Ecclesiastes 3:8 "A time to love..."
Bessie was united in holy matrimony to the late Lurenzo Hardy. Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy: Stepmother- Jane Moody, Kent, N.Y. one son, Carlton Moody - Evergreen, N.C. two daughters, Tanya Moody - Marietta, Ga., Tracy (Larry) Hardie - Chadbourn, N.C. and one goddaughter, LaTasha Billups - Hampton, Ga; her brothers Edward (Tina) Moody - Rochester, N.Y., Edwin Dudley - Albion, N.Y., Dennis (Molly) Andrews - Rochester. N.Y.; her sisters Sharon Dennis - Whiteville, N.C., Sue (Michael) Tart - Chadbourn, N.C., Rosemary Moody - Raleigh, N.C., her mother-in-law Evelyn Hardie - Boardman, N.C., special cousins Lydia (Jimmy) McInnis - Evergreen, N.C., Maxine Tart - Chadbourn, N.C., Laura Stephens - Evergreen, N.C. Jessie (Sonata) Peacock - Chadbourn, N.C., Tyrone Nance-Washington, DC, four sister in laws and one brother in law, and a host of extended family members and friends.
Ecclesiastes 3:4 "A time to weep.....a time to mourn..."
In addition to those previously mentioned, Bessie was also preceded in death by her sister, Irene Adams.

According to her children Bessie was very proud and frank in her discussions and conversations. She gave great thought regarding her appearance. Bessie enjoyed watching westerns, completing crossword puzzles, loved being on the "go" and along with her son, she was an "undercover" Elvis Presley fan.
