Mrs. Anna was born on January 20,1931, to the late Archie
Page and Lover Moody Page. In 1949, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late
Emory “June” Townsend. To this union seven children were born.
She was also proceeded in death by a grandson, Delano Townsend, Jr and a Granddaughter Pamela
Denise Townsend.
Mrs. Anna had a meek and humble spirit and full of wisdom. She exemplified the
“Proverbs 31 virtuous woman”. She was well known for her cooking and hospitality.
For many years she served as a loving Health Care Aid. She worked tirelessly on the
farm to ensure that the needs of her family were met.
She was a dedicated church member serving in many capacities, to include;
Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Pastor’s Aide President, Senior
Choir President, and Nurses Aid President and also a Church Mother. She was well
loved by all who met her. She had a warm nurturing spirit shared by all.
She leaves to cherish her memories (Four sons) Eugene Townsend, Hamlet NC.,
Anderson Townsend (Wanda) Charleston SC, Robert Townsend, Fairmont, NC, Delano
Townsend (Joan) Orrum NC; Three Daughters; Marilyn Oppong-Addae (Princewell)
Yonkers, NY; Vickie Smith (Dwight) Haines City, FL; Amy Townsend, Charlotte NC.; 15
Grandchildren; 22 Great-Grandchildren; 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. One brother,
Wade Brown, Jr.; One sister, Clementine Gunter.
