Ms. Alisia Lavonne Troy

     Alisia Lavonne Troy was born April 7, 1971 to Charles and Charlotte Troy in Bridgeton, NJ.  She departed this early life peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2023 at the Carrolton of Lumberton.  She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, James and Lethia Powers; and paternal grandparents, Cecil and Clara Troy.

     In 1980 the Troy Family returned to Lumberton, NC, in search for a church home, they joined The St. Mary Holiness Church under the leadership of Bishop J.C. Bryant.  While in ministry at St. Mary, Lisa was very instrumental in the 4th Sunday Youth Program, reciting scriptures, poems,  singing, and participating in the annual Easter and Christmas plays. She also served on the Wings of Faith and JC Bryant Choirs.

      Lisa attended the Public School of Robeson County, she graduated from Lumberton Senior High in 1989,  as a student there she ran track, was a member of Future Homemakers of America, the school choir and various other organization.

     In later years, Lisa relocated to Fayetteville, NC, she acquired many friends who encourage her to visit their church, as she continued to seek God for a covering that would shepherd  her at all cost. A few visitations to Faith Tabernacle was her answer, she happily joined there and was  a faithful member under the leadership of Elder Earl and Pastor Denise Goins.  She loved her Pastor and his wife wholeheartedly.  Even in sickness, Lisa served  faithfully as a greeter, usher, member of the praise team and the kitchen committee.  She was the epitome of “I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1

      Lisa’s love for people and her gift of helps landed her a job  as a receptionist, serving people in all walks of life at the Veteran’s Hospital in Fayetteville, NC. 

      Lisa became ill in 2010. diagnosed with cancer, but her testimony was, “God is a healer, and He got me”. In and out of hospitals, radiation and chemo treatments, weight and hair loss, but she kept the faith and stayed in the race, I can imagine if Lisa could speak to us today, she would voice the words to this song, “My prayers have all been answered, I finally arrived, the healing that has be delayed, has now been realized, no ones in a hurry, no more schedule to keep, I’m enjoying Jesus just sitting at His feet, Though I had some struggles, they don’t seem to compare to what Jesus has in store for me , no language could ever share, you would not want me to ever leave this perfect place. If you could see me now, I’m walking streets of gold, if you could see me now, I’m well and made whole, if you could see me now, you know I’ve seen Him face to face, if you could only see me now.

     This year on April 7, 2023 Lisa was very adamant about having a birthday celebration, she wanted a big dinner, with family and friends but her body was too weak to entertain a large crowd so her Aunt Barbara was able to convince her that a smaller celebration would be just as nice, in the meantime her Mom was conversing back and forth with members of Faith Tabernacle about a surprise drive by celebration which made her birthday celebration bigger than she could have ever dreamed.   Faith Tabernacle, family and friends  showered her with so much love in the form of  hugs, gifts cards, balloons, gifts, money, cakes and so much more.  “Faith Tabernacle, yall really made her day very special.”

     Lisa’s life  now echoes the words of  Paul when he knew his time was at hand, I fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day and not me only, but unto all them that love His appearing.             2Timothy 4:7-8 .  Fight On Saints, Keep Your Sword In Your Hand And You Fight On.   

   Lisa leaves to cherish her precious memories; her parents Deacon Charles and Sister Charlotte Troy of Lumberton, NC; two sons, Justin Troy of Lumberton, and Damein Troy of Fayetteville, NC;  one brother, Shawn Powers (Kathy) of Lumberton, NC; one sister, Christina Troy of Lumberton, NC; five aunts, Evangelist Barbara Powers, Linda Gerald, Patricia Troy all of Lumberton, NC; Mildred Troy of Charlotte, NC; and Linda Troy of Brentwood, MD;  one uncle, James A. Powers of Lumberton, NC; a host of nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
