Ollie Madison was called home on February 28th, 2025. She was born in South Carolina on August 27th, 1949, to her late parents, Wilbert and Lavana Thompson.
Ollie was a proud student of Rosenwald Elementary School, where she attended from first through twelfth grade. She sought greater opportunities and later relocated to New York, where she built a fulfilling life and career.
Significant achievements and contributions marked Ollie's professional journey. She began working at the New York Telephone Company from 1972 to 1977. Her career then took her to TWA (Trans World Airlines) in 1977, where she formed lifelong friendships and remained until 2001. Her dedication and work ethic were recognized in 2006 when she was honored as Employee of the Year at South Nassau Community Hospital, where she worked from 2002 until her retirement. In addition to her career, Ollie pursued further education in medical billing and earned her real estate license, making significant contributions to her field.
Beyond her professional success, Ollie was deeply committed to serving her community. She volunteered with Assemblywoman Barbara Clark, dedicating her time and energy to uplifting others and making a meaningful impact.
Ollie was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Lavana Thompson, her brothers, Jerry and Richard Thompson, her sister-in-law, Ann Thompson, and her husband, Willie Lee Madison Jr.
Ollie's love for her family was unwavering, and she leaves behind a cherished legacy through her children: her daughters, Felecia Renee and Lisa Thompson; her sons, James and Quran Thompson; her beloved niece and daughter, Lyndia Thompson; and her daughter-in-law, Denice Martin-Thompson. She also leaves behind her longtime best friend and companion, Hyott Simon and his daughters Sandra Simon and Yvette Williamson.
Ollie is survived by her siblings, Leondas Thompson, Barbara T. Williams, Wilbert Thompson Jr. (Linda), Peggy Green (Frank), and Daniel Thompson, as well as her sisters-in-law, Margie Ford Jones, and Flora and Tracey Thompson.
Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, whom she adored: Michael Thompson, Kenneth Thompson, Telisha Thompson, Ciara Harris, Jon-Marc Johnson Jr., Quran Thompson Jr., Tenisha Thompson, ReNayla Johnson, Serenity Thompson, Raesean Greer, Jaequan Greer, and Qurin Thompson. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Michael Thompson Jr., Jalynn Cesar, and Cassandra Thompson.
Ollie's faith and family were the cornerstone of her life. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends, and her cherished church family at First Baptist Church.
