Mrs. Mary Rilla (Arnette) McLain

Mary Rilla McLain was born to the late Albert Sr. and Mable Arnette on July
18, 1949, in Lumberton, North Carolina. She entered eternal rest at the age
of seventy-five on July 23, 2024.
Mary affectionally referred to as “Dank” grew up in the Fairmont NC
community she graduated from Fairmont High School and attended
Robeson County Community College where she would complete an Early
Childhood Education Teaching Certification Program.
She was known as a woman who would speak her mind, her wisdom gave
her the ability to connect with people at all levels, whether it was making
them laugh, giving them a word of encouragement, or just a listening ear.
Dank was dependable, generous friendly, and famous for her home-made
biscuits which she would proudly cook for friends and family on any
occasion.
Mary was an active member of Grace Outreach Ministries serving where
needed from singing with the choir to performing duties as a team captain
representing the seven colors of the rainbow with her ever present “red”
table, during the churches annual “Rainbow Tea” building fundraiser event.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Tommy McLain, a daughter,
Valerie Denise McLain, a son, Kenneth Dale McLain, a granddaughter
Taylor Simone Lawson, a grandson Curt Lawson Jr., a daughter in law
Maria McLain and an adopted daughter Janet Locklear.
Dank leaves to cherish her memories two sons; Timothy McLain (Cathie) of
Alexandria, VA, Tony McLain of Lumberton, NC, two daughters; Angela
Lawson of Charleston, SC, Brenda Faye McLain of Summerville SC; three
sisters, Ruth Goins of Fayetteville NC, Peggy Moore (John) of Fairmont
NC, Diane Moore of Fairmont NC; three brothers, Benny Arnette of
Fairmont NC, Jerry Arnette (Anita) of Winston Salem NC and Daniel
Arnette (Linda) of Fairmont, NC. Thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great
grandchildren, A host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and
countless friends and relatives too numerous to list but not forgotten.
