In GOD’s perfect time and HIS divine rhythm of provision for eternal rest, Linda W. Thompson’s soul transitioned at the age of 91, while being cared for at the Life Care Center in Whiteville, North Carolina.
Linda was known as a dedicated wife, mother and teacher.
She was married to the love of her life for sixty-nine years, modeling the life of the Chrisitan Covenant of Marriage.
She cherished and nurtured her one and only child, Eric Emmanuel Thompson Sr. for 66 years before he preceded her in death in 2022.
She was employed to teach preschool and elementary school students in the Rosenwald School district for 30 years. Later, she was called to teach the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a Sunday School teacher for women at First Baptist Church, North Main Street, Fairmont, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her son, Eric Emmanuel Thompson I; her parents Eddie Worley Sr. and Ludenia Stephens Worley; siblings Eddie Worley Jr., Rev. Nepoleon Worley, Arlivid Worley, Rev. Fred Worley, Bobby Worley, Elzetta Worley, Alease Worley Bullard and twin “baby sister Worley”.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Earnest Linwood Thompson, Jr., brother-in-law Harold Bray Thompson; sisters-in-laws Anna D. Worley and Gardenia Durant Thompson; daughter-in-law Janice Townsend Thompson; grandchildren Eric Emmanuel Thompson II and Pamela, Maya Thompson Metz and George, Marcus Irving Thompson and Brendalyn; great grandchildren Nazaria Kelis, Kamau Azariah, Israel Grace, Ava Joelle , Charis Gabrielle, Ryder Isaiah, Elle Abigael, Charlotte Camille, Aidyn Alexander, Lydia Estel, and Marsai Harper. She was blessed with many loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Beyond their birth family, Linda and Earnest were blessed with a God daughter, Alanda LeGrande; and God son, John Lewis.
It was always her hope that her family rise to become the best that GOD has called them to be.
The family of Linda W, Thompson are thankful for all prayers submitted to GOD during her journey of health challenges. Special thanks to the caring caregivers of Woodhaven Nursing Center of Lumberton, North Carolina, UNC Health and the Life Care Hospice Center of Whiteville, North Carolina.
The family will accept friends at the home of Earnest L. Thompson, 212 MLK Drive, Fairmont, North Carolina.
