Mrs. Kenyatta Locklear Tribute

Kenyatta Latoya Locklear was born December 23, 1981, to Mary Locklear and the late
Fredrick Watson in Lumberton NC. Kenyatta departed from us on March 29th, 2024 at
UNC Health Southeastern, Lumberton North Carolina.
Kenyatta accomplished one of her esteemed goals, by finishing the nursing program at
Robeson Community College and becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant in the early
year 2000s, she began her career ranging from prominent nursing homes in the
Lumberton area to spending majority of her career at the Southeastern Regional Medical
Center. In the year 2017 Kenyatta accomplished another determined goal by gaining
her High School Diploma from an out of state School. Kenyatta then branched out from
the medical world and began pursuing her entrepreneurship in Taxes and Credit repair.

Kenyatta was a fireball of positive energy but also could be mean as all get out, but you
had to really know her to know how to take her. Kenyatta spent most of her life working
as much as possible to provide for her family in the best possible way show knew how
to do so. In the early years Kenyatta enjoyed going out with her girlfriends and having a
good time, Kenyatta enjoyed having family and friends card games at her home.
Kenyatta had a heart for anyone in need, especially family and friends. If she knew you
needed food or something or even didn’t have a place to stay at the time being, she
wasn’t taking “NO” for an answer and was gone make sure you were taken care of.
Kenyatta was a wild girl and hard to tame and she knew it too, but as she got older and
her family tree grew larger over the years, Kenyatta knew it was time to slow down.
Kenyatta began enjoying family and home more, she found new hobbies while at home,
she was diagnosed with a condition that rocked her world in the worse way, but she
never tried to let that hold her down or stop from enjoying life up until her final resting
day.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fredrick Watson, her loving aunt/mom Saundra
Graham, and her energetic and mean Chihuahua dog “RED”.

Kenyatta leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband, David Lee Kirby III, her mother, Mary
Locklear, four sons, Donte’ Locklear, Tyson Kirby, Tauren Kirby and Treyvon Locklear, three sisters, Amber Sykes, Biranna Sykes and Dejunae Kirkpatrick, one brother, Clyde Kirkpatrick, her mother-in-law, Brenda Seals, sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and James Mclean, Brother-In-Laws, El hodge Kirby and Desmonde Moore and a host of other relatives and friends.
