Willis Wright was born on December 17, 1952 in Abbottsburg, NC. He was the son of Leon Wright and Queen Esther Gillispie Wright. “Willie” departed this life on January 2, 2021 at Southeastern Health of Lumberton.
“Willie” was a loving and giving person that will truly be missed. He was a hard working man that enjoyed working. “Willie” worked for the Lumberton Housing Authority for 47 years where he retired in 2017. He enjoyed racing cars and motorcycles where he would infamously brand himself as “Wrights Racing”. “Willie” was a rare kind, he was a man that could fix anything from the roof to the floor, and could rebuild a motor with ease. He began attending church at FDCT where he later joined and received Christ in June 2017 and served as a deacon. He truly loved his church and the family. “Willie” was the man behind the opening of this location and restoration after storm damage.
“Willis leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of thirty six years, Elder Jenny Wright, his two sons, Willis “Dean” Wright Jr. and Curtis Wright both of Lumberton, NC, one granddaughter, Jada Wright, one brother, George Fairley Wright (Lena) of Baltimore, MD; three sisters, Priscilla Faye Wright Odom of Lumberton, NC, Lucinda Wright of San Antonia, Texas and Lela Ann Wright of Fayetteville, NC, one special niece, Nannette Palmore, four brother in-laws, five sister in-laws, one mother in-law Doretha Thompson, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
