Mr. Willie Mitch Baker the son of the late John Henry Baker Sr. and Catherine Glora Smith was born on February 7, 1942 in Lumberton, NC. He departed this life on June 18, 2026 at Pruitt Health in Rockingham, NC.
Willie affectionately known as (Uncle Mitch) was educated in the Robeson County School system. He later relocated to Charlotte, NC where he was employed with the city of Charlotte driving trucks. After moving back to Robeson County, he begin to do farm work which he enjoyed a lot. Driving trucks was his passion until his health began to fail. He loved and enjoyed sitting around talking and laughing with his family and friends.
Willie Mitch Baker was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Flora Smith, father John Henry Baker, two sisters Ethel Govan, and Sara Murphy, two brothers Gene Baker and George Douglas Owens.
He leaves to cherish a son, John Paul Granger of Georgia, a daughter, Linda Granger of Charlotte, NC; Later Willie married Lessie M. Baker Burgess and gained a stepdaughter, Wanda Townsend (Maurice), and a stepson, Rufus Singletary of Orrum, NC; He also leaves behind two brothers, Winfred Baker of Rowland, NC; and John Henry Baker of Charlotte, NC; One sister, Albortor Summers of Charlotte, NC, thirteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who he loved dearly, and a host of other relatives and friends.
