Thomas Jeffery Tilman was born in Alexandria, VA on Tuesday, March 22, 1955, to Jessie and Ada Bell Bullard Tilman. His earthly journey ended in the evening of Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Angel House in Whiteville, NC after a valiant battle with cancer.
The Tilman family moved to Lumberton, NC in August 1971. Thomas was a member of the 1974 graduating class at Lumberton High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and served until he was medically discharged in 1977. Thomas became a resident at Mt. Olive Family Care Home in Fairmont, NC in 1997 and remained there until his health declined.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother, Glen. Family members left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Alice (Donald) Pope of Gastonia, NC, Sammie (Sandra) Tilman of Lumberton, NC, Debra (Hubert) Hobbs of Wilmington, NC, Shelly Siler of Asheboro, NC, and Minnie (Peter) Huggins, of Wilmington, NC; his nieces and nephews: Antwayne Tilman, Dominic Pope, Keyonna Breland, Tamika Tilman, Sammie Tilman Jr., Tony Tilman, James Tilman, Caleb Tilman, Syretta Brown, Lakeisha Tilman, Montrice Tilman, Shawntina Dennis, Shaleka Siler, John Huggins Jr., Akeya Henry, and Khiry Huggins; many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to the staff of Mt. Olive Family Care Home and Angel House for the care they gave to Thomas.
