Sammie ‘Sam” Love was born on December 6, 1946 in Robeson County, North Carolina to the late Della McNair and William Love. Sam Love transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest with our heavenly father on Thursday January 29, 2026 at UNC Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, NC.
Sam was a graduate of South Lumberton High School in Lumberton, NC. He was a loyal and committed worker at the pawn shop on Pine Street for many years. Sam was a member at First Baptist Church of Lumberton, NC and he embraced life and was always a good friend to those that he came in contact with. Sam had an array of friends that he cherished and remained loyal to throughout his life. He was a good son and brother, and an even better uncle to his many nephews and nieces.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, William and Della Love, two sisters, Martha Ray Love and Sarah Love, one brother, James Love, a niece, Brenda Love and a nephew, Laverne Love.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories to his brother, William Love Jr., of Bronx, NY; his half-brother, Gary Channel of Lumberton, NC; a half-sister, Coot Love of Fayetteville, NC; seven nephews, Danny Love (Ruth) of Orrum, NC; Dennis Love of Lumberton, NC; Michael Love (Fiancé Tamiko Murphy) of Lumberton, NC; Billy Love (Lakisha) of Charlotte, Thomas McMillian (Jan) of Little River, SC; Carlosia “Carl” McMillian (Cynthia) of Bronx, NY; and Brian Keith McMillian (Nisa) of Winston Salem, NC; two nieces, Jacqueline Love of Rincon, GA; and Wanda Harley of Winston Salem, NC; Sam is also survived by a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, family and friends each of whom held a special place in his heart.
