Mr. Roger Earl Gaddy was born on May 18, 1953, to Nevel and Saluda Gaddy in Fairmont, N.C. On August 14, 2023, God called him home.
Earl, or Bug as he was affectionately called by family, received his education in Robeson County Public Schools. He faithfully served as a member of the men’s choir at St. Augustine AME Church in Clayton, NC until he relocated back home to Fairmont. There, he attended St. Paul AME Church and lent his beautiful voice to the male choir and was a dedicated usher.
He enjoyed a good game of pool and could be found with his personal stick ready in his car. He was also an avid fisherman and prided himself on passing his craft on to the next generation, along with his jokes. Earl took a game of corn hole just as serious as pool and at any time he would pull his board out and take on challengers. Earl was kind to everyone he met, his welcoming smile and shining light will truly be missed.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Nevel and Saluda Gaddy, his sister, Yawanda McEachern and his brothers, Alfred and William Nevel Gaddy. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Erica Dawkins of Lake View, South Carolina, Roger Barnes of Clayton, North Carolina, two beloved grandchildren, Desiree Dawkins and Javion Barnes,
He also leaves to cherish his memories his siblings, Marjorie Cromer, Claude Edward Gaddy (Cora), Lula M. Gaddy, Flora Neil Gaddy, Brenda Blackmon (James), Doris Dixon (Michael), and a host of nieces and nephews.
