Mr. Rodney Eldry Orlando Thompson, born on September 7, 1976, peacefully departed this life on July 29, 2023, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, North Carolina.
Rodney's educational journey began at the public schools of Robeson County, where he later achieved certification in welding, showcasing his dedication to personal and professional growth.
He is preceded in death by his beloved father, Eldry Thompson Jr, his cherished mother, Joanne Bethea, and his dear sister, Andrea Renee Jones.
Rodney's memory will forever be cherished by those he leaves behind, including his stepfather Milton V. Bethea, his daughter, Ny’Tasia Jones, and his caring siblings: Felicia (Patrick) Jacques of Fayetteville, NC, Latonia (Eric) McQueen, and Ophelia R. Thompson, all of Lumberton, NC. He also leaves behind step-sister Nia M. Love of Hampton, Virginia, and two step-brothers, Antonio L. Bethea of Maryland and Torry Campbell of Lumberton, NC. In addition to his immediate family, Rodney is survived by his aunt, Angenetta (James) Leonard of Fairmont, NC, and uncles Ronald (Denise) Jones of Lumberton, NC, Jerry Jones of Proctorville, NC, Cameron (Nettie) Jones of Hope Mills, NC, and Perri Thompson of Fairmont, NC. His legacy extends to his godchildren, Christopher Ford of Fairmont, NC, and Jalani Mcrae of Lumberton, NC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives he touched with his warmth and kindness. May his soul rest in peace as his memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved.
