Richard, affectionately known as Mookie, was the youngest of five children. One brother, Alton Lewis Preceded him in death. Upon graduation, Richard furthered his education and attended Fayetteville Technical School, where He received a certification in Welding. Richard grew up surrounded by love and it showed in his actions. Richard loved spending time with family. He could always be seen wearing that infectious smirky smile that made you instantly smile back. He was a caring, thoughtful, and carefree individual. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend. He was a gentle giant. When he was around you, you knew you were safe. He always thought of others first. “To know him was to love him!”
Richard was a lover of antiques and old homes; he found such a fascination with them. He also loved to find new places to eat. He would travel near and far to explore the unique history and delightful places to dine, with his girlfriend Shondelle, along for the ride.
Richard leaves to cherish his loving memories of his Mother, Ruby Lee Johnson (Fairmont, NC), his sisters, Kim Johnson (Fairmont, NC), Shawn (Tony) McKay (Baltimore, MD), Gino (Bruce) Stitch (Philadelphia, PA), and Regina Inman (Atlanta GA).
