Norman Lee Floyd was born on August 11, 1973, and departed this earthly life on May 17, 2025, at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital at the age of 51.
Norman was preceded in death by his sister, Lashanda Nicole Colvin, and the love of his life, Ms. Cigi Smith.
Norman enjoyed cooking, fishing and family time. At an early age he joined Oak Grove Baptist Church. He worked at Shoney’s, Ruby Tuesday, Alamac and Walmart. He enjoyed his customers and loved his coworkers.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Janie Floyd of Lumberton, NC; his father, Christopher Cates of Lillington, NC; three sisters, Sandra Floyd, Dorothy Floyd, and Pamela Love of Lumberton, NC; He didn’t have biological children but was a father to many including his ex-wife Rhonda’s son, Snoop, Cigi’s children, Asia, Rashie, Quinton, and Lexus, 8 grandchildren, Norman had many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He created strong friendships with April, Lydia, Demorris, Jerome McCollum, Lonnie McCrae, and Tory Cooper. He also has coworkers, associates and other friends. As our loved ones start a new journey, we the family of Norman will hug a little longer, call more often and forgive each other as Christ would. You truly never know when the last time will be you see someone here.
We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8
