Mr. Levon Chestnut, son of the late George Grissett and Gussie Lee Partell was born Sept. 15, 1942 in Horry County, SC. God saw Levon getting tired and came for him on Saturday, April 21, 2018 and took him to his eternal home.
He attended The Whittlemore High School in Conway, SC. He was a retired Safety Officer with Deeshoring Construction Company. He met and fell in love with Shirley Carter Chestnut and to this union four children were born. (Chestnut) as we all knew him was always known to make you laugh.
Levon will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 44 years, Mrs. Shirley Carter Chestnut of the home, one daughter, Latilla Chestnut Young of the home, three sons, James (Regina) Bellamy of Mullins, SC, Dennis (Tiffany) Chestnut of Severn, MD and Braddy Chestnut of South Arlington, VA; grandchildren, Issac Mckoy Chestnut, Jacob Chestnut, Shirlena Chestnut, Paulina Chestnut, Jayden Chestnut, Keira Chestnut, Clifton Floyd, Ashley Floyd, Anisa Gilchrist, Morris Gibson and Myles Haskins, two great grandchildren, Michai and Ashton, one grandson preceded him in death, Solomon Chestnut, three sisters, Edna (Ted) McNair of Conway, SC, Patricia Faulk of Wilmington, NC and Faye Pertell of Charleston, SC; two brothers, Charles (Mary) Pertell of Loris, SC and Ronnie (Elizabeth) Pertell of Conway, SC; one brother-in-law, Alford (Alice) Carter of Fort Royal, VA; one sister-in-law, Isadelle Chestnut of Myrtle Beach, SC; two aunts, Louvenia Taylor of Henderson, NC and Eloise Newcurt of Chadburn, NC, a devoted friend, Elijah Chestnut and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
