Leon Campbell was born on February 10, 1958 in Robeson County, North Carolina to Ernest (EJ) Campbell and Margaret Lee Mitchell-Campbell. Leon transitioned from this Earthly life to eternal rest with our heavenly father on Friday June 8, 2018 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, NC.
Leon was a graduate of Lumberton Senior High School in Lumberton, NC. He was a loyal and committed worker of McDonald’s and Kayser Roth for 25+ years. Leon was a loving and compassionate soul who was always the life of the party. Leon embraced life and was always a good friend to those that he came in contact with. Leon had an array of friends that he has cherished and remained loyal to throughout his life. He was a great son and brother, and an even better uncle to his many nephews and nieces.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest (Margaret) Campbell of Lumberton, NC, two sisters, Elinda D. Campbell of Lumberton, NC, and Bertha L. Campbell of Fairmont, NC. and one special nephew, Martae K. Murphy of Lumberton, NC.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a special friend, Shirley Miller of Lumberton, NC, one brother, Allen L. Campbell (Angie) of Winston-Salem, NC, three sisters, Virginia L. Cromartie (Charles) and Gail Y. Swindell both of Lumberton, NC, and Suenell Campbell of Raleigh, NC, one special aunt, Emma belle McKellar of Fairmont, NC, one special cousin, Johnny L. Campbell of Fairmont, NC, Five life-long friends, Checker Murchison, Tommy Williams, Jackie Bartley, Sam Davis, and Lorenzo Thompson and a host of other relatives, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and friends.
