Larry Stackhouse, Sr. was born January 15, 1953 to the late Betty Lou Stackhouse, Gerald and Theodius Oates, Sr. in Fairmont, North Carolina and departed this life on July 2, 2022 at Angel House in Whiteville, North Carolina. Special recognition to his grandmothers, the late Evergreen Stackhouse and late Ada Page.
Larry graduated from Fairmont High School in 1971. He received his CDL from truck driving school and had worked at Converse, was a school bus driver, a tech at Orrum Family Alternative and a van driver at SEATS.
Larry joined Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age and served in several capacities to include Trustee, Church Treasurer, Usher, Sunday School Teacher, Transportation and other committees.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 31 years, Mattie Robinson Stackhouse of the home, two sons, Larry Stackhouse Jr (Shantia) of Lumberton, Matthew McCollum (Natasha) of Charlotte, NC; one grandson, Bryson Stackhouse; two brothers, Joe Stackhouse, Ronald Stackhouse of Newburgh, New York; one aunt, Mary Alice Lesane of Newburgh, New York; close cousins, Torian Walker, Lela Jones, Stella Wilson and Junior Pittman; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
