Mr. John Luckey

It's with sadness and sorrow we officially announce the transition of Mr. John Luckey 70 of Fairmont. Mr. Luckey transitioned from time to eternal rest on October 21, 2025.

Mr. John G. Luckey, a devoted family man and cherished friend, passed into eternal rest on October 21, 2025, at UNC Southeastern, surrounded by the love and memories of those who knew him.

Born on April 21, 1955, in Robeson County, to Richard Luckey and Allie Mae Stephens Luckey, John grew up to be a kind-hearted soul with a passion for life. After serving in the United States Navy, John dedicated 28 remarkable years to Robeson Health Care Corporation, retiring in April 2025.

John's life was filled with joy, love, and adventure. He delighted in traveling, watching movies, and cheering on his beloved Washington Commanders (affectionately known as the "Dead Skins"). The mountains and beach were his happy places, and he loved spending time with his grandkids, who adored him.

A sports enthusiast and competitor, John, was famous for his impressive basketball skills in Turner’s Terraces. His infectious sense of humor and generous spirit made him a beloved figure in his community. John also had a passion for history, often watching the History channel and sharing his knowledge with others.

When visiting Chicago, John always made a beeline for Giordano’s deep-dish pizza, his favorite. His love, kindness, and legacy will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Allie Mae Luckey. He leaves to cherish his wife, Annette Hayes Luckey of the home. 4 daughters Dr. Tomiko Machingura (Ronnie) of Maryland, Tonya Collins (Lamont) of Lumberton, Annette Jones (Chris) and Yvette Hayes   (Frankie) of Fairmont, and 1 son Antonio Hayes of Fairmont, 11 grandchildren, his brother Kevin Luckey of Florida, (2) brothers-in-law William Hayes (Sarahlyn) and Charles Hayes, (1) sister-in-law, Kimberly McRae (Johnny), mother-in-law Nettie Hayes along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends who will forever hold him in their heart.

Rest in peace, Mr. Luckey. Your memory will live on in our hearts.
