Mr. John Derrick Jackson

November 27, 1966 ~ April 16, 2021 (age 54) 54 Years Old

Mr. John Jackson Tribute

     John D. Jackson Sr., 54 of Lumberton, North Carolina, was born on November 27, 1966 to the late Sergeant John E. Jackson and Emma H. Jackson. Derrick is the youngest of four children He departed his earthly life on Friday, April 16, 2021.

 

    Derrick was educated in the Public Schools of Robeson County. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1984. After his career with the US Armed Forces, Derrick attend and graduated from the BLET program at Robeson Community College. With this achievement, he join the local police department. He served as an patrolman in Lumberton and numerous other towns until his health interfered with his duties. In 2008, he became a member of Antioch Mason Lodge #113. 

 

     At an early age, he attended Pentecostal United Holy Church where he was apart of the Junior Usher Board, Combined and Men’s Choir. Later he joined Genesis Outreach Deliverance Center, where he served as an armor-bearer. Outside of church, Derrick would transport the local high school band’s equipment to and from events. Derrick enjoyed traveling and expressing his unforgettable sense of humor. He truly never met a stranger! 

 

     He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Mary Jackson. Children: Seewillow Jackson, John Jackson Jr., Dewayne Jackson, Jemare McNair, Ada McNair, Bobby McNair and preceded in death by Derrica Jackson. Grandchildren: Kyron Monroe, Tymeria Monroe, Kymonia Monroe and Kalice Richardson. Three sisters: Sharon Byrd, Laticia Jackson and Retha Ekwunoh who preceded him in death. A mother-in-law, Mary Alice Watson. Three brothers-in-law: Neil McNair, James McNair and Frederick Ekwunoh. A sister-in-law, Mary May McNair. Uncles: Larry (Sandra) Jackson and Arrister (Mae) Hammonds. Aunts: Sandra Richards, Avis Norwood, Rose Barnes, Carolyn (Joseph) Parks and Mary (Dosker) Howze. Along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who dearly loved him.
