Jeffery Washington, Sr., was the son of Bishop Lesane and Christine Washington-Thomas. He entered this earthly life on December 02, 1962, and went from labor to reward on December 08, 2024. Jeff was raised in Lumberton by his grandparents, Mckinley and Rosa Washington. At a young age it was clear that Jeff possessed a love for laughter and life. As a child, Jeff joined First Baptist church where he was member of several ministries.
Jeff was intelligent, talented and never met a stranger. He had an unforgettable smile. He was a barber, photographer, carpenter, and would often refer to himself as “Jeff Boyardee”. He was an amazing cook - a real grill master. He spent his life being that someone everyone could count on. He was a great friend, and a man of God. He lived, loved, and was loved
Jeffery Washington was an amazing father to his children. There was not a game or milestone missed. His love for sports was passed on to his children and grandchildren. The love Jeff had for his grandchildren was immeasurable. He affected the lives of so many young people in the community. He was a community historian and knew everyone’s “kin folk”. If you were in his presence, you were prepared to laugh. He was giving, kind, and compassionate.
Later in his Christian journey, Jeff joined Sandy Grove Baptist Church where he was a tenor in the men’s ensemble, and part of the men’s ministry. He loved to read and study the Bible and had many conversations about the Word of God. Gifting a Bible or some spiritual literature was a part of his walk with Christ. Jeff persevered throughout his illness to be with his family and friends. After 27 years of dialysis and countless doctor visits, he now rests in the arms of His Savior.
Left to cherish memories: his wife, Lori Epps-Washington; daughter, Latonya Washington; son, Jeffery Washington Jr, (Keshia); daughter, Jacqueline Epps; and son, William (W.C) Washington.
