Mr. James Mickens, affectionately known as
“Bubba” entered this world on December 29, 1953
and departed this earthly life on May 23, 2025. He
was born in Summerton, South Carolina to the
late Mable Mickens and late James Mickens.
James attended Fairmont High School. He worked
various handy jobs and also worked setting up
houses for Clayton Homes. Bubba loved people.
He loved to work outside, ride his moped and more
importantly, he loved his family.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Helen
Mickens; mother, Mable Mickens; father, James
Mickens; sister, Dorothy King; and brother, Eddie
Lamb.
He leave his most precious and fondest memories
to his seven sisters, Elmarie McClain
(McDonough, GA), Roberta Grissett (Lumberton,
NC), Betty Lue Mickens, Betty Rose Mickens,
Henrietta James, Antonio James (all of Fairmont,
NC), Cynthia (Henry) James (Charlotte, NC); a
brother, Isaac Mickens (Brooklyn, New York), a
brother-in-law, Harry Lee Grissett (Rowland, NC);
two aunts, Lucille Hermit (Dillon, SC), Climese
Tomoney (Lumberton, NC); an uncle, Jim Junior
Hermit (Dillon, SC) and a host of nieces, nephews
and friends.
