Mr. James Leroy McDougald

      James Leroy McDougald Sr. was born on May 7, 1946 to the late Lizzie McDougald and Sam Sutton and departed this life on Thursday July 7, 2022 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.

      James attended the Public Schools of Harnett County. He retired from the city of Raleigh and spent his retirement fishing, cooking, grilling and helping others until his health failed. He was a member of McCormick Chapel A.M.E. Church. He enjoyed wrestling and football. James was a loving husband, father, brother, friend, cousin, uncle and brother-in-law.

     He was preceded in death by his mother, Lizzie McDougald, father, Sam Sutton and his aunt, Mary Martha McKoy known as aunt Sis.

      To cherish his memories and continue his legacy, his wife, Nankina Lesane McDougald, sons, James Ottis McLean (Linda) of Oxford, NC and James Leroy McDougald Jr. of the home, daughter, Linda Dawson of Dunn, NC and Jakima Marie McDougald of the home, brothers, Alton Ray Young of  Benson, NC Charles Sutton (Sue) of Sacramento, CA and Kenneth      Sutton of Washington, DC, sisters, Evon Christine Surles of Selma, NC, Evangelist Joyce White of Fayetteville, NC, Deborah Hart of Temple Hills, MD, Terry Conway of Spring Lake, NC, Brenda McIntyre, Germantown, MD, Linda Brown of Sandiego, CA, grandchildren, Brittany Dawson, James Pressley Jr., Samaj and Tyquan, three great grandsons, brother-in-laws,  Edward Lesane Jr. (Qunley) of Raleigh, NC, and Fredrick Ratliff of Fayetteville, NC, sister-in-laws, Kimberly Lesane Ratliff and Jamika Ward of Fayetteville, NC, best friend, Monroe Sinclair of Lumberton, NC forty nieces and nephews, sixty great nephews and nieces, four great great nephews and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
