Mr. James Edwards Tribute

Sgt. First Class James Edwards ( Ed, Uncle Ed), was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on August 24, 1941 to the late James and Mildred Edwards. He was the oldest brother to Harvey and Harry Edwards (Twins) who preceded him in death. James departed this earthly life and entered eternal life on January 10, 2021.

James found God at an very young age. Most family and friends thought he had a calling to become a preacher. He really did know his scriptures. Instead James decided upon a career with the military. He served his country for thirty years, enjoying every moment of his service. He was truly a patriotic soldier. A true blue soldier at heart loving his country. James served in many combats. Alone his travels he came to Lumberton, NC and met the love of his life, Ms. Margaret Ann Bullock. They united in holy matrimony in 1964 until his death. He traveled all over the world with his dream come true. The love he possessed for his wife and children was unconditional. James placed his trust in God and his family, never wavering to take care of those he loved. After serving his country he was honorable discharged from the Army. He went to Meadville, Pennsylvania. He returned to Lumberton and began settling down. He became a devoted member of Sandy Grove Baptist Church and an outstanding Masonic member. He was faithful until his death.  God had allowed him to discover other gifts he possessed He used both gifts to help others and to glorify God.

James leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Margaret Ann Bullock Edwards, three children, Deborah (Dee) Hairston, George Anthony Edwards and Charles Jiles, a grandson who was like his son the best of his heart, (Christopher Hairston) nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
