Mr. Herbert Bailey Evans started this journey in Cross Creek, Cumberland County, North Carolina on January 4th, 1948. He was born to the late James Melton Evans and the late Mary Lizzie Kirk. He departed from this world on October 31st, 2021 at the Woodlands Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina at the age of 73.
Herbert received an education in the Robeson County Public Schools and afterward started his career in the military. During his time in the military he had opportunities to travel, see and experience many new things. After his military service, he resided in Fayetteville, NC where he undertook classes and training to become an Electrician. A few years later he returned to his hometown of Lumberton, NC where he continued to do electrical work. Living in his hometown, surrounded by family and friends brought him great joy and he had a passion for being an Electrician. From childhood into adulthood, although not always active he maintained a firm connection to First Baptist Church Lumberton, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Lizzy and James Evans. His brothers James Jr., Gilbert, Marion, Sylvester, Laddie and a sister Doretha.
He leaves behind two daughters, Michelle Evans of Spring Lake, NC and Yadira Gardner of Midway, GA. His former spouse Xiomara Del Cid. Three sisters, Lena Thompson (David) of Lumberton, NC; Sarah Smith (Walter) of Lumberton, NC; Minnie Scott (Tony) of New York. Two brothers, William Evans (Alice Faye) of Lumberton, NC and King Evans (Bernadine) of Lumberton, NC in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
