Mr. George Washington Jr.

    Mr. George Washington Jr., 81 of Lumberton, transitioned from time to eternal paradise on April 30, 2024. George was born on November 3, 1942 in Marlboro County to Lugenia McInnis (Gilchrist) and George Washington Sr. 

    He lived in McCall, SC from a young boy until adulthood. He attended Marlboro County public schools until he would later move to High Point, North Carolina to reside for the remainder of his life. 

     George was a loving, easy-going, no-non sense stand up man who helped any and everyone he encountered. He was a devoted father, brother, uncle and friend. George relocated to Lumberton, Nc in April of 2023 where he was cared for by his sister Virginia. It would be during those tedious months that he would learn about our savior Jesus Christ and that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God was and is eternal life. Other members of the church visited him and he absorbed the knowledge that they poured into him.

    Yet while he laid in pain and affliction, George gave his life to Christ on April 7th, 2024 at the hour 2:06pm.

    God healed him from the inside out and now he has a new body, eyes that can see and a spirit that will never die! He knew he was saved and he reminded those who came to visit that he was still yet holding on. He will suffer no more because God has welcomed him in. 

    He is preceded in death by his mother, Lugenia Gilchrist, his father George Washington Sr and his only son, Steven Washington.

    Left to cherish his memory is one sister, Virginia (Robert); and three brothers: Glenn Coleman; Jackie Coleman; and Henry Coleman all from Lumberton, NC; as well as many extended family members, and friends. 

     George will truly be missed on this side but God holds him now forever.
