Floyd Ray Smith Sr., 69 of High Point formally of Evergreen, NC passed away January 6, 2022, born to the union of the late Emmitt Smith, Jr. & Dorothy Mary Lou Floyd.
Floyd Ray was educated in the public school system and graduated from West Columbus High School. He later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and attended butchery school. Floyd sought entrepreneurship by obtaining multiple endorsements on his Commercial Driver’s License flourishing as a tractor-trailer owner operator traveling God’s glorious road for over 40 years.
Floyd Ray was a very diverse man of many talents, skills, and interests. Whether it was fishing in Lake Erie or hunting in the backwoods of Washington (the Evergreen State), or planting seeds in his gardens from High Point to Evergreen, North Carolina and everywhere in between. Floyd’s love of traveling was a seed he planted in his offspring as he packed lunches and loaded his children onboard traveling from Philadelphia heading south for joyous summer vacation and holiday gatherings.
Floyd Ray was proceeded in death by his granddaughter - Sydaria Lutéce Smith, his grandson - Angel Désir, his sister - Pastor Virginia Ann Billings and his brother-in-law - William Smith.
Floyd Ray leaves to cherish his memories, his wife – Barbara Smith, his five children from his previous marriage - Christel Smith-Coleman (Raymond/Evander), Nature Smith-Prioleau (Omar), Floyd Ray Smith Jr. (Monique), Tasha Désir (Jean Eddy), Kelisha Smith-Harvey (Garth Lee) ~ Grandchildren: Bruce (Chrissy), Sheamar, Daajah , Zysha (Joquan), Tyshaun, Floyd III, Zaire, Justin, Zachariah, Jackalynn ~ Great Grandchildren: Nick, Alicia, Mariah, Kylee, Alanah Rae ~ Siblings: Jeanette Smith, Gail Chestnut, Mildred Dixon, Preston Smith (Lisa), Shirley Smith, Tina Smith-Booker (Calvin), Crystal Hemphill, Tiwan Williams, Amy Williams, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins ~ two special ladies Ms. Myrtle & Ms. Maria ~ best friend, Tyrone Daggs, as well as many other family and friends.
