Ernest William Simmons was born July 14, 1948 to the late Ernest Simmons and Minnie Simmons. He slipped into peaceful eternal rest on January 13, 2024.
Ernest Simmons “Carman” resided in Whiteville, NC. He was a member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church. Ernest always kept a smile on his face to light up any room. Ernest laughter was a constant source of joy.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Simmons and Walter Simmons, three sisters, Hattie Pearl Simmons, Mattie Pearl Simmons and Doris Simmons.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories to his wife, Betty Simmons of Whiteville, NC, one son, Stacy Graham (Lisa) of Virginia Beach, his granddaughters. Destiny of Fuquay, NC and Italia Graham of Fayetteville, NC, two great grandsons, Cason Hines & Kyrie Oxendine, one sister, Ruby Nazarth of Passaic, New Jersey, two sister-in-laws, Jackie Samuel (Isaiah) of Evergreen, NC, and Debra Cruss (Felton) of Marion, SC, one brother-in-law, Coleman Graham of Evergreen, NC, one aunt, Myrtis Sims of West Orange, New Jersey, a host of nieces, nephews cousins, other relatives and four special friends, Willie “Shorty” Womble Sr., Derell Dawson, Gail Walls, and Ronnie Smith.
