Ernest “E” Konata Jones entered the world on July 31, 1978 in Chicago, Illinois and departed January 24, 2021 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Konata had a passion for his family and business. His family was his first priority, infusing their lives with love. He always put the needs of his family first and made sure they were taken care of and did not want for anything. Konata showed his children and family how often he cared for them by showering them with words of encouragement, laughter and gifts. In addition, to his family he will often impart others with advice and positive affirmations. If you wanted to know the truth sprinkled with words of encouragement and love, Konata was the person to talk to.
Konata was a hard-working businessman and he demonstrated that by starting his own business, Jones Landscaping. He worked sun-up to sun-down to make sure his clients’ yards and land was well-groomed. He took great pride in his accomplishment by branding all of his clothes with the company's name and logo.
A devoted son and brother Konata leaves to cherish his memories; his parents, Richard and Vernessa Smith (Lumberton, NC); sister, Tisha Carnes (Garner, NC); and brother, Raymond Carnes (Winston-Salem, NC). Two nieces and three nephews: Alexis, Andre, Arzalay, Zytron, and Jahmir along with his loving aunts, uncle and cousins.
Konata will be greatly missed by the love of his life, fiancé Shaneil Whorley and eight children: Chavorian Nazear Atkins, Daja Renee Crosby, Harmony Faith Whorley, Ernest Konata Jones Jr., Breyana Kamira Jones, Heaven Serenity-Sky Jones Whorley, Summer Dream Jones Whorley, Sky Destiny Jones Whorley and a host of “children” that he provided and cared for, to continue his legacy.
For my children:
“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together…
there is something you must always remember:
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.
But the most important thing is,even if we’re apart…I’ll always be with you.” A.A. Milne
