Mr. Christopher Cornelius James

     Mr. Christopher Cornelius James was born in Elizabethtown, NC on August 2, 1955 to the late Ophelia McDowell and Bennett McDowell.

     He attended Bladen County schools and later studied at BOCES in Beacon, NY where he received a certification in welding. He worked various jobs in New York but later relocated to Lumberton, NC and retired from JC Penney as a visual specialist.

     While in New York he met the love of his life, Willie Mae Taylor but to Chris “Willa”. They relocated to North Carolina to care for their parents. After relocating to Lumberton. Chris and Willa married on January 2, 1994.

     Chris joined Sandy Grove Baptist Church on October 17, 2004 were he was a member of the Gospel Choir and Men Ensemble.

     Chris will be deeply missed by his loving wife Willa, his children, Kimberly Joy Sinceno (Oji) of Fayetteville, NC; Christopher Jones of Baltimore, MD; Donovan James of Newburgh, NY; Shawntei Vandyke of the home, Goddaughter Master Sgt. Michelle Wilkerson of Fairfield, CA; grandchildren, Breighlan and Bryce Swindell, Oji Sinceno Jr. of  Fayetteville, NC; Crishae Jones of Baltimore, MD; Alexis James of Morrisville, NC;         Serenity James of Lamoore, CA; Mia and Malia Wilkerson of Fairfield, CA; Siblings, Delores Cooper (George) of Raleigh, NC; Stacy Clemmons of Elizabethtown, NC; Brenda North (Kevin) of Charlotte, NC; Cecil McDowell (Janie) of Greensboro, NC; Daryl McDowell of Philadelphia, PA; Pastor Scott McDowell (Sherilyn)of Clayton, NC; and Tracie Sanders (John) of Raleigh, NC , one brother-in-law, Nathaniel Taylor (Violeta) of Misson, TX, one uncle, James McDowell (Norma) of Elizabethtown, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family.
